THE TREND REPORT approached young LA-based blogger Aureta for an exclusive Q&A. After making an appearance on “Dresscue Me” a reality show based on Shareen Mitchell’s vintage store in LA (that I will blog about next week). Aureta came into the store with the idea in mind of finding unique treasures, and she sure did! For her apparition on the show, the stylish blogger was wearing a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta sequined dress previously purchased at Shareen’s and altered into a knee-lenght dress. On her blog, Aureta models in her favorite outfits and let me tell you that her extravagant style with a hint of glamour is so unique and varies from time to time. Just like a cameleon, Aureta changes into a more edgy look one day and switches to a more ladylike outfit, after all it’s all about having fun like she says and we are completely head over heels in love with her wardrobe… But who exactly is the girl behind the most stylish wardrobe and tremendous style?
The Trend Report: Clearly, you have the fashion gene, how did your passion for collecting clothes started?
Aureta: I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would even lay out what my parents would wear to my PTA meetings! That sense of style, I believe, is innate; the passion for fashion, a natural offshoot. It’s a mode of communication for me, fashion being a language of sorts. I love speaking in colors, textures, fabrics and silhouettes. My fluency in it has advanced throughout the years, but it’s always been a part of me.
TTR: Aside from blogging and shopping the most beautiful and rare finds on the planet, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A: I relish spending quality time with my family and friends, traveling the world, dining at the best restaurants and flying planes.
TTR: Ok, we’re dying to know. What was your recent “fashion” purchase (and what will be the next one?)?
A: I recently purchased Fendi runway sunglasses. I don’t plan my purchases; something usually has to move me.
TTR: Would you be willing to share some of your favorite shopping spots in LA?
A: Some of my favorites are Barneys, Neiman Marcus for shoes, Maxfield, Decades and Shareen Vintage.
TTR: Your style is certainly UBER-unique. How would you describe it? One wonders if you ever have the “I don’t know what to wear” syndrome?
A: I can’t really be objective about it, but I would say: eclectic, artistic, modern, inspired by old-world glamour. I always have an idea of what to wear when I am in front of my clothes.
TTR: What are the biggest fashion dos and don’ts according to you?
A: Fashion is about having fun. There are no mistakes because fashion always communicates something personal, and everyone is important.
TTR: Your favorite outfit?
A: Always the next one.
TTR: In terms of styling tip, how would you advise young women to find their own style?
A: Confidence is everything. Always wear something that makes you feel confident and your true style will shine through. Just because someone tells you to wear something doesn’t mean it’s stylish. True style is organic and comes from within. Read more, learn more, see more—doing so adds depth to your inner self and will make your style even more informed.
TTR: What’s on your iPod right now?
A: Miles Davis, Leonard Cohen, Nirvana, Michael Jackson, Astor Piazzolla, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jimi Hendrix, Mozart, Jay Z and much more…
