This season’s collection is fresh, girly, young and colorful. In other words, what a woman with style needs. As all the items are crafted in gorgeous Italian leather in various candy-yummy colors. Who said gloves were for the Winter season? Chic, unique and very on trend at the moment, gloves are the ultimate accessory that will make the whole difference in an outfit as it will immediately dress it up. I’m in London right now for a week, I’m taking a Luxury Brand Management Short Course at a Fashion University here in London - I will tell you all about it this week. After my dinner at Zuma tonight I went to “Snog” in South Kensington with my cousin K and his wife S, and I actually found out that “Snog”, in the British language means French Kiss. The natural yogurt flavor was out so I went for a Passion Fruit frozen yogurt, which was actually better than I expected, with strawberries and chocolate chips (see picture below). I think I’ve told you about my PinkBerry addiction when I was in New York last month, so basically I found a great version of it here - it’s about time! Too bad they don’t deliver, there’s nothing better than curling up in bed with a frozen yogurt and watch a cheesy movie. Yummy!

Q&A WITH AURETA: A TASTE OF MODERN EXTRAVAGANZA...

THE TREND REPORT approached young LA-based blogger Aureta for an exclusive Q&A. After making an appearance on “Dresscue Me” a reality show based on Shareen Mitchell’s vintage store in LA (that I will blog about next week). Aureta came into the store with the idea in mind of finding unique treasures, and she sure did! For her apparition on the show, the stylish blogger was wearing a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta sequined dress previously purchased at Shareen’s and altered into a knee-lenght dress. On her blog, Aureta models in her favorite outfits and let me tell you that her extravagant style with a hint of glamour is so unique and varies from time to time. Just like a cameleon, Aureta changes into a more edgy look one day and switches to a more ladylike outfit, after all it’s all about having fun like she says and we are completely head over heels in love with her wardrobe… But who exactly is the girl behind the most stylish wardrobe and tremendous style?

The Trend Report: Clearly, you have the fashion gene, how did your passion for collecting clothes started?

Aureta: I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would even lay out what my parents would wear to my PTA meetings! That sense of style, I believe, is innate; the passion for fashion, a natural offshoot. It’s a mode of communication for me, fashion being a language of sorts. I love speaking in colors, textures, fabrics and silhouettes. My fluency in it has advanced throughout the years, but it’s always been a part of me.

TTR: Aside from blogging and shopping the most beautiful and rare finds on the planet, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A: I relish spending quality time with my family and friends, traveling the world, dining at the best restaurants and flying planes.

TTR: Ok, we’re dying to know. What was your recent “fashion” purchase (and what will be the next one?)?

A: I recently purchased Fendi runway sunglasses. I don’t plan my purchases; something usually has to move me.

TTR: Would you be willing to share some of your favorite shopping spots in LA?

A: Some of my favorites are Barneys, Neiman Marcus for shoes, Maxfield, Decades and Shareen Vintage.

TTR: Your style is certainly UBER-unique. How would you describe it? One wonders if you ever have the “I don’t know what to wear” syndrome?

A: I can’t really be objective about it, but I would say: eclectic, artistic, modern, inspired by old-world glamour. I always have an idea of what to wear when I am in front of my clothes.

TTR: What are the biggest fashion dos and don’ts according to you?

A: Fashion is about having fun. There are no mistakes because fashion always communicates something personal, and everyone is important.

TTR: Your favorite outfit?

A: Always the next one.

TTR: In terms of styling tip, how would you advise young women to find their own style?

A: Confidence is everything. Always wear something that makes you feel confident and your true style will shine through. Just because someone tells you to wear something doesn’t mean it’s stylish. True style is organic and comes from within. Read more, learn more, see more—doing so adds depth to your inner self and will make your style even more informed.

TTR: What’s on your iPod right now?

A: Miles Davis, Leonard Cohen, Nirvana, Michael Jackson, Astor Piazzolla, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jimi Hendrix, Mozart, Jay Z and much more…

BLAIR WALDORF WEARS THE MADEMOISELLE BAG

On the Fourth season of Gossip Girl, Blair Waldorf was spotted wearing a Chanel “Mademoiselle” handbag (which is a younger version of the classic bag at a slightly cheaper price too) as seen on co-star Blake Lively starring in the advertisement campaign this season. I quite like this bag in the shape of a “bowling bag” which is making a comeback, maybe I would pick a bigger size with a unique pattern or texture, in other words, something funkier (like the blue one below, very nice!)

What do you all think of this bag?

“Sure, Natalie Portman had to suffer for her art in Black Swan but we bet our tutus she’s glad she didn’t have to wear these! Granted, they are designed by Christian Louboutin and unique but try pirouetting in eight inch red soles, Mila Kunis! If however you think the world’s highest ballet shoes would complete your Louboutin collection or would look lovely displayed on your shelves then pay close attention. The shoes are up for public auction, aiming to raise money for one of the world’s leading dance companies, the English National Ballet and as Monsieur Louboutin said, ‘Isn’t the classical dancing ballet slipper the ultimate heel? The heel which makes dancers closer than any other women to the sky, closer to heaven.’ Bien sûrChristian!”

JIL SANDER INSPIRATION

In London, there are sales everywhere, and it’s becoming a bit overwhelming because for starters, shops are a complete mess and secondly the new collections are not out yet. I got this skirt from Zara on sale, great bargain, and it is kind of Jil Sander inspired.

So, how can you DIY? (“Do It Yourself”), I suggest you purchase a regular pink maxi skirt from any high street store (Zara, Topshop, H&M) and then cut off the side to create the slit, which is what makes it more special and very Jil Sander inspired. All you need then is a simple white t-shirt (not tank top), tie your hair in a bun, pink flashy lipstick and you’ve got the look! Of course this is not a look that everyone can pull off, one needs to be not too short (and if you are a shorter skirt would do the trick!)

NEW ARRIVALS AT PROENZA SCHOULER! ARE YOU DYING?

I’m taking this Luxury Brand Management short course in London this week, and it has been great so far, and it really makes me want to go into that field later on, who knows? Having said that, my group and I have been working on a product design development for a luxury brand and we chose CHANEL (of course) and decided to create a ballerina line for children “Petite Mademoiselle” from 4 years old to 12 years old (25-35 shoe size), and here is something I designed to illustrate what it would look like. Like it? I’m sure that my little sister would go crazy about them if they truly existed!
